Children's Developmental Services Agency (CDSA)
The North Carolina Infant-Toddler Program (NC ITP) offers support for children from birth to three years old who have developmental delays or established conditions. In Moore County, the CDSA of the Sandhills serves as the local agency for early intervention. Your pediatrician can often provide a quick referral to the CDSA. To refer your child to the NC ITP independently, contact the CDSA directly by phone, fax, letter, or in person. Alternatively, you can complete and submit the NC ITP Referral Form to your local CDSA. Moore County Schools Preschool Program
For children aged three to five, Moore County Schools offers developmental screenings and evaluations to identify any areas of concern. These services are designed to support children who may need special education (IEPs) or related services. If your child starts with CDSA, they typically transition automatically into this program. However, depending on the timing and your child’s adjusted need for services, you may need one program without the other.

Early Education
Based strictly on #momtalk (and a few excellent credentials), these are just a few of the top-rated daycares, schools, and preschools in Moore County. Sandhills Children’s Center, serving children ages 0-6, provides quality care for those with and without special developmental needs; oftentimes they hold a two-year waitlist, but there are specific slots reserved for children with special needs. STARS Charter School, starting at kindergarten, features an Exceptional Children’s Classroom and is contracted with Moore Pediatric Therapy Services. Aberdeen Elementary offers developmental and academic support beginning at the preschool level for at-risk children (would require MCS Preschool Evaluation for placement).
When applying to preschools and kindergartens, it's important to confirm whether external therapists are allowed to provide services on-site, especially if you are 1.) applying for private and charter schools or 2.) seeking therapy services outside of those offered and contracted by Moore County Schools.
